11th Lausitz Café Perspectives in Craftsmanship – Construction Site Future
How can traditional craft structures in the Saxon Lusatia region be preserved and developed sustainably for the future? What opportunities arise from structural change, and how will the construction industry develop in the coming years?
The Lausitz Café is an entertaining discussion event where interested citizens, potential founders, small business owners and established companies exchange ideas on the perspectives in the skilled trades and find pragmatic solutions to the challenges in Lausitz.
In cooperation with the SelbständigLausitz project of the Dresden Chamber of Skilled Crafts, we cordially invite you to the Konrad Wachsmann House in Niesky on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, starting at 5:00 p.m. Together we will explore questions surrounding developments in the construction industry.

Why is it worth participating?
Craftspeople in Lusatia face numerous challenges that often cannot be overcome alone. They need the exchange of experiences as well as individual consultation.
Approximately 31% of those who founded businesses in the 1990s are already 55 years old or older. This means that these companies will have to address the transfer of their life's work within the next decade. Passing on a business within the family is becoming increasingly rare. Furthermore, the transfer of a business is not always successful on the first attempt. Therefore, significantly more time and effective measures are needed today, not only for the transfer of the business itself, but above all for the transfer of know-how.
To ensure a successful transition, young people with ideas and a willingness to start their own businesses are needed. Structural change and economic development offer opportunities for career paths in skilled trades, especially in the predominantly rural Lusatia region.
We look forward to your participation and an active exchange. If you are unable to attend this time, please feel free to contact us for an individual consultation.
This offer is open to all residents of the Görlitz district and is free of charge. Food and drinks will also be provided, so no one has to discuss the event on an empty stomach.
Anyone who is curious and wants to know what has already been discussed in past Lausitz Cafés can get an overview on our Miroboard .
