Questions:
Table 1: Realities of Life
Each and every one of us has our own Sorbian reality – whether through language, culture, family, memories, or even distance. For some, Sorbian is everyday life, for others a memory, sometimes even pain or longing. This table is about sharing these personal experiences – without right or wrong.
Question: What is your Sorbian reality – today or in the past? What experiences, situations, or emotions connect you to the language and culture? And what, in your opinion, has led to Sorbian often being less present today – in everyday life, in families, in the region?
Table 2: Arouse curiosity
Many young people in Lusatia have little contact with the Sorbian language or see little connection to it in their everyday lives. At the same time, there is great potential to spark interest through modern communication channels, creative campaigns, and participatory formats. You are part of a team that is considering how to specifically inspire young people with the Sorbian language and culture – whether in schools, online, at events, or in public spaces.
Question: What does a campaign need to make young people curious about Sorbian? Which topics, places, or activities could truly reach them – and how should they be addressed?
Table 3: spontaneous encounters
You're new to Schleife. You don't know the region well yet, but you're curious – about the people, the culture, the language. Imagine encountering Sorbian casually in everyday life: on coffee cups, in the ice cream parlor, in playgrounds, or while strolling through the village. All without pressure, but with charm.
Question: What small, creative ideas can you think of to make the Sorbian language and culture tangible in everyday life – in a way that makes people want to learn more or even get involved?
Table 4: Future Language
Imagine walking through your village and hearing more and more people speaking Sorbian to each other – in everyday life, at school, on the street.
Question: What concrete steps could you take to make this normal again? What needs to happen for more people to speak Sorbian?
Table 5: Tiny Houses
Tourism development plays a crucial role in the region's transformation. In addition to new tourist offerings, the overall framework needs improvement. There is a shortage of accommodation options, particularly across different price ranges. One idea is to create a tiny house community at Lake Halbendorf, where Sorbian culture can be showcased.
Question: What could these tiny houses look like or be designed to reflect this culture?
This offer is open to all residents of the Görlitz district and is free of charge. Food and drinks will also be provided, so no one has to discuss the event on an empty stomach.
Anyone who is curious and wants to know what has already been discussed in past Lausitz Cafés can get an overview on our Miroboard .
