10. Lausitz Café - "Achieving more together - your commitment is priceless!"

The Lausitz Café is an entertaining and regularly recurring event series, this time being held SNL (Social Network Lausitz) engagement and volunteering .

In 2024, we want to extend the event series to the entire district of Görlitz and invite you to the Kinocafé Rietschen on October 10th .

Questions:

A breath of fresh air

Tobi from Berlin is moving to Upper Lusatia with his partner. They both had many hobbies in Berlin, but often felt lonely and anonymous among the crowds. They want to change that and get involved in their new community. However, finding information isn't easy.

How can information about local clubs/initiatives be made easily accessible to newcomers? What other questions do Tobi and his partner have about settling in, and what can help them?

New old club members

Erwin is almost 65 years old. He can practically count the days he has left until retirement on one hand. Soon Erwin will have a lot of free time. His children and grandchildren live in Dresden, so he doesn't see them very often.

His old friend Torsten has been active in the railway club for years and asks him if he'd like to join. Erwin is unsure whether club involvement is the right thing for him.

What options are there to make volunteering at the club appealing to a soon-to-be retiree? What concerns might he have, and how can they be addressed?

Club structures

Many established clubs in the region are struggling with declining membership. Demographic change shows that we have too many clubs/activities for too few committed people.

What options exist to streamline the fragmented landscape of clubs and associations, and how can such a process succeed?

Say "thank you"

Sabine and Uwe often help their elderly neighbor Heidi with everyday tasks that she can no longer manage on her own due to her advanced age. They also regularly assist with organizing village festivals and participate in work projects such as "Subbotniks" (voluntary community workdays).

How can small, private initiatives be made visible so that they receive recognition? How can the SNL (Society for Local Life) be used to express "thank you" for the important work done in neighborhood support groups or local associations?

This offer is open to all residents of the Görlitz district and is free of charge. Food and drinks will also be provided, so no one has to discuss the event on an empty stomach.

Anyone who is curious and wants to know what has already been discussed in past Lausitz Cafés can get an overview on our Miroboard .
