Culture at Steinberg

"To be open and to write." That was all Rainer Maria Rilke wanted. Isn't that a modest yet so demanding wish?

He experienced “all of life as if it were passing completely through him with all its possibilities,” but also with all the contradictions that traversed him. His urge: to weave the vast expanses of the inner world, the experience, the love and its unbearable nature—that which is “more than flesh and blood”—into words that, in their beauty and depth, almost reach the brink of the unbearable.

A life's work at a high price, for himself as well as for all who surrounded him. A literary and musical Rilke program, about a "radical life that wants to be all art" and blossoms in all its contradictions.

Performers:

Andreas Rüdiger, recitation

Julia Boegershausen, recitation and singing

Richard Schönfelder, guitar
