17. Lausitz Café - Weißwasser - Crystal clear into the future: Help shape the development of the Glass Museum!

The Lausitz Café is our event series where we regularly meet with you to actively engage with the region. Here, we don't discuss things theoretically, but rather in a practical, everyday way: Each café focuses on different key topics related to structural change, and our goal is to find answers together with you to questions that concern us all.

On Tuesday, April 28, 2026 , we cordially invite you to the city library in Weißwasser . That afternoon, we would like to discuss your wishes and ideas for the glass museum .

The offer is open to everyone and is free of charge . Food and drinks will also be provided, so no one will go hungry.

Questions:

Table 1: Museum 4.0 – Experiences that last

A museum today should be more than just an exhibition – a place where ideas are tested, encounters take place and different offerings come together (e.g. with catering services, …).

How can we ensure that a visit to the Glass Museum is memorable and that guests are eager to return? How can the Glass Museum become a meeting place for all generations?

Table 2: Get involved – Together instead of alone

For the Glass Museum in Weißwasser to have a future, it needs dedicated individuals who support its day-to-day operations. What should such collaboration look like so that it doesn't feel like "extra work" or a "burden," but rather a genuine enrichment for everyone involved? We are exploring ways to inspire young people (18 and over) and to gain schools and clubs as long-term partners.

Table 3: Visibility & Identity – Pride in One's Own

Every city needs an identity. In Weißwasser, the heart often beats for blue and yellow and the puck – but what about glass? We want to find out: How does the city of Weißwasser want to present itself to the world? The city of glass or the city of ice hockey?

Table 4: Location question – Where should the glass museum be located?

The search is on for the right location. Where should the Glass Museum be situated – the city library, the community center, or Villa Gelsdorf…? And what would Weißwasser actually lose if the Glass Museum were to disappear tomorrow?

Anyone who is curious and wants to know what has already been discussed in past Lausitz Cafés can get an overview on our Miroboard .
